A Welcome from our Chairman

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Burcot Woodturners website.

Our club has a long history of bringing together woodturners of all abilities, whether you are just starting out in the craft, or you are an experienced turner, to everyone in between. We also open our doors to members of other woodturning clubs if they want to come along on a club night. Everyone is welcome, and we have a wealth of experience and knowledge with which to help or answer any questions that you may have

The club started in 1997 and became affiliated to the AWGB a year later. In 2023 we celebrated our 25th anniversary, and our membership has steadily increased to make us one of the largest woodturning clubs in the country. In 2025 we made an application to become a registered charity so that we can secure the future of the club for many years to come.

We meet at Burcot Village Hall on the first Thursday of each month, and we have a varied programme of events and demonstrations (please check the events calendar). You may also see us out and about as we take the club stand to local shows to promote the heritage craft of woodturning to the public. What I would encourage everyone to do is get involved, and participate, in the events the club puts on or attends.

We are a friendly club, and our ethos of a cuppa, a biscuit, and a chat with a bit of woodturning thrown in has stood us in good stead over the years. You will soon find that friends are made over the shared interest of shaping a piece of wood, rotating at high-speed, using various tools.

You can find out more about the club on this website or on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

We look forward to seeing you at a club night.

Happy turning,

Richard Pinches – Chairman
