For our first demonstration of 2026 we welcomed AWGB Vice Chairman, and friend of our club, Steve Gordon.

This was Steve’s second time demonstrating at the club, and again he did not disappoint. It was an excellent demonstration, as Steve explained the principles of bowl turning and the best ways to deal with cutting end grain when turning.
Throughout the evening, Steve also shared his hints and tips to help and develop members turning skills and for them to have greater confidence when taking on projects.

Despite the wet February weather, it did not deter members, friends and visitors from coming along on the night, and yet again we had an excellent attendance. For those in the Village Hall, they were treated to a turning masterclass from Steve, who yet again made everything look so simple. Of course, there were plenty of questions from the floor which Steve was more than happy to answer.

During the evening, Steve turned a bowl, plate and egg cup, talking members through the way to present tools in order to get the best results when dealing with end grain. Whether you are a novice or experienced turner, there was something for everyone to take away from the night.

Here are a few more photographs from the evening:

If you missed the demonstration, or would like to ask Steve a question about any aspect of turning, he is a regular visitor to our club and is more than happy to help and advise fellow turners. Just ask him!

Another Great Evening very good demonstration Regards John Smith
