Trimpley Vintage Rally and Auction

We were on our travels again last Sunday as we attended the Vintage Rally and Auction that was organised by Bridgnorth Vintage Machinery Club at Trimpley.

This was the first time that we had attended this event, and we were totally surprised by the number of cars, bikes, tractors, military vehicles and even stationary engines that were there – it was certainly bigger than we had anticipated.

After admiring the many vehicles driving past it was time for us to start up the generator and get the lathes going for a bit of woodturning.

It is always strange how a piece of wood rotating at high speed always attracts people to the stand, but of course it always does and we had a steady crowd of people throughout the day.

This not only allowed us to talk to members of the public about our heritage craft, but also gave them the opportunity to purchase items that had been turned by members from our craft stall.

It is worth saying at this point that we always give those members who come along to help out on the stand the opportunity to sell their own items on the day. They do not have to pay anything to the club, but they get the chance to make a little extra cash to pay for the next piece of equipment or materials. The club pays the cost of the pitch and it is our way of thanking those members for their support.

On Sunday the team consisted of Trevor, Carl, Matt, Jeff, Bruce, Paul and yours truly. Without them we could not have attended the event, so a big thank you on behalf of the club for their help and support. It was also nice to see other club members come along to have a look around the event and say hello to everyone on the stand.

Here are a few more photographs from the day:

You can probably tell from the photographs that the weather was beautiful and that one of the best things about being on the stand is that we have a laugh with each other (not forgetting the coffee, tea and cakes that are provided for the team on the stand). If you would like to get involved in one of our upcoming outdoor events, check the club diary and let Mike Crockett know, you will be more than welcome

Here are a few of the photographs from the rest of the event.
