Forest of Arden Agricultural Society Ploughing and Hedging Match 20th September 2026

We were pleased to be asked back to this years Ploughing and Hedging Match organised by the Forest of Arden Agricultural Society. It is the third year that we have attended the event and each year it is held at a different farm This year the match took place at Pool Barn Farm, Little Alne.

With the gazebo’s set up, the generator fuelled and the craft stall stocked the team prepared for a day of woodturning in the field.

A massive thank you to Mike, Paul, Bruce, Matt, Carl, Trevor and not forgetting Jeff for giving up their Sunday to go along and represent the club. As usual they did the club proud, promoting woodturning to the public along with our club. Thanks also to Andy Bishop for lending us his van to get all the equipment to the site – we couldn’t have done it without his help

It always makes for an enjoyable day when the sun is shining and we can get to talk to members of the public about our heritage craft. Having our members turning on the lathes and the craft shop enticing people into the stand gives us plenty of opportunities to engage them in conversation. On the day, there were many requests for information on woodturning and our club so hopefully we will have some new people take up the craft.

Here are a few more photographs from the day:

It was another successful day out for the club, and we are already looking to next years event. To finish, here is the closing shot from the event.
