Last weekend saw the club attend the Bonded Warehouse Open Weekend at Stourbridge with our show stand for two days of woodturning magic. This has been one of our regular shows over the years and we had another great weekend (despite the rain on Sunday morning).
As usual we had fantastic support from our club members, without whom it would not be possible to attend these events. A big thank you to everyone who came along: El President John S, Chairman Mike, Bruce, Ray M, Matt, Tim, Paul P, Roger B, Trevor C, Roger S, Peter T, Jeff, Jake, Trevor D and of course our Outside Events Co-ordinator, Mike C (apologies if I have missed anyone)
The team welcomed, and spoke to, the public over the weekend and gave a insight into our heritage craft. There was plenty of interest and hopefully we will have a few more people come along to the club to join as a result.
On Saturday we were visited by the Deputy Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Peter Lee, who took a tour of our stand and was shown the famous “idiot stick” by Mike Delves. Cllr Lee was also impressed with the various items that were for sale in the craft shop and how they were produced on the lathes.
Yet again our craft shop was stocked with a wide range of items which had been turned by members of the team. From bowls, pens, vases, standard lamps and Trevor’s lucky acorns, the public were able to pick up some early Christmas presents and actually see items being turned on the lathes.
The Bonded Warehouse Open Weekend was our last outdoor show of 2024, and was a fitting finale to another successful year. Well done and thank you to everyone who has supported the club this year. You are what makes our club unique
We will now start planning which events we will be at in 2025, so if you have any suggestions please let Mike Crockett or any member of the committee know. In the meantime, here are a few more photographs from the Stourbridge weekend.
